LUIS FRANK-VOCALS
Luis cut his teeth as a sideman for the legendary Compay Segundo (of Buena Vista Social Club fame) as lead and secondary vocalist. In the late 1990’s he held lead vocal duties with the Afro-Cuban All Stars led by Juan de Marcos González. In 2004, Frank was involved in the film “Música Cubana” directed by Wim Wenders. Around this same time Frank, along with the legendary Pío Leyva formed a new band, Soneros de Verdad. Touted as the second coming of the Buena Vista Social Club, even after Pío’s death, the band continues the traditions of Cuban son music. Along with singer Mayito Rivera and music director Nicolas Sirgado, Luis Frank and his Soneros de Verdad are leading the way for the next generation of Cuban soneros.
